I first came to New Hampshire in 1979 as a hiking guide.
In 2012, my wife, Eleanor, and I found a “fixer-upper” in Jaffrey that needed a lot of TLC but was right for our family.
Our three children enjoyed swimming in Lake Contoocook and hiking.
They are now grown and pursuing their own careers.
Science education has been my career for 35 years. Some of this time was spent in the classroom. I have taught grades from elementary to graduate school (MIT). However, most was spent creating and running companies that could harness the resources of business to improve education. My work was creating programs, writing textbooks, and manufacturing lab equipment for teaching middle and high school students.
Public schools are the gateway to the American Dream for 99% of American kids. I have worked with school districts in almost every state in the US and in several foreign countries. This experience has given me a deep understanding of how school funding works, what is possible, and what is broken.
I was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1961. By father was born in Beijing, China, and my mother was born in New Jersey. Like most of us, my history includes immigrants who came to a new world to work, to learn, and to become Americans. My dad was a cook at Howard Johnsons and mom was a waitress. They were 18 when I was born, followed by my two sisters and brother. We all attended public schools. One sister just retired as senior executive at the Ginna Nuclear Power Station. One sister leads cyber security programs for the US Department of Energy. My brother is a chip designer in San Jose, California. I eventually earned a Ph.D. from MIT. Public education lifted my whole family out of poverty.
My family was what we describe as the "working poor." At nine years old I delivered wagons of newspapers for a quarter and gave the money to my mother for food. Over the next decade I worked many jobs, as a cook, a carpenter, a store manager, and a bicycle mechanic. I went to college and then worked as an engineer, a teacher, an author, and a scientist. Eventually I became a company founder and president. Life has given me a wide range of practical experience and the ability to find common ground with almost everyone.
My major hobby is music. I perform regularly around the region and run Open Mic at the Park Theatre and our free Concerts on the Common in Jaffrey. My other vocation is woodwork. I taught high school carpentry and I often have my tool belt on. Our house was built in 1788. As any old house owner knows, there are always more things to fix than there are spare hours to fix them.
I have always believed strongly in community service. These are some of the ways I support our communities today.

As you may know, State Representatives in New Hampshire receive $200 for the entire two-year term.
If elected, we work essentially as volunteers in public service to all NH residents.
All the costs of running an election campaign, such as printing literature, mailing, signs, ads, and
everything else must be paid for by the Candidate through contributions from voters.
If you wish to support my campaign, there are several options.
